The nominees for Red Thread Games‘ official fan art competition are now online! Because many of the submissions were just too good to choose from, Red Thread decided to put them in four categories and put it up to a vote.

So go over to the website and vote for your favorite pieces in each category! Here are some of my favorites:

ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

February 22, 2013 in Dreamfall, Dreamfall Chapters, Kickstarter, Media, Red Thread Games, The Games, Video

A very big congratulations to the people at Red Thread Games for achieving the ONE MILLION DOLLAR mark on Kickstarter! Look at those happy people! The Longer Journey stretch goal has been achieved! To remind you what exactly that means:

At one million dollars, we expand the journey. We will add new characters, including Abnaxus of the Venar, and new locations, both in Stark and Arcadia. We add more exploration, more depth, more lore. More to see and more to do. Think of this as the extended edition of Dreamfall Chapters. We don’t alter the story or flow, but we open things up and allow players to delve deeper into the game world.

February 21, 2013 in Dreamfall, Dreamfall Chapters, Kickstarter, Media, Red Thread Games, The Games, Video

In today’s Mini-update, Red Thread Games announced a new pledging tier for the Kickstarter campaign. The tier is set at $200 and will give you all the digital downloadable goodies from the $150 Digital Dreamer Edition on one very cute Wonkers USB stick! For more details, read the update here.

TwitchTV LIVE broadcast on Friday

As was announced earlier, Ragnar Tørnquist, Dag Scheve and Martin Bruusgard will do a live playthrough of Dreamfall this Friday.

The live broadcast begins this Friday at 1800 CET / 1700 GMT / 12PM EST / 9AM PST and will continue until either a) we’ve completed Dreamfall, or b) everyone’s asleep or passed out from exhaustion. The devs are prepared to go the distance, so make sure you have enough coffee, cola, snacks and comfy chairs!
Red Thread Games

The whole thing will be recorded, so you can watch what you missed when ever you want. There will be the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the developers during the live broadcast though, so be sure to join in on the fun!

The Library and the PayPal

February 18, 2013 in Dreamfall, Dreamfall Chapters, Kickstarter, Media, Video

With a little over $25,000 to go until the Dreamfall Chapters Kickstarter reaches its second stretch goal, the people at Red Thread Games aren’t sitting still. They bestowed another Kickstarter update upon us and announced that they’ll now accept pledges via PayPal.

Pledging via PayPal

Can’t pay through Kickstarter, but still want to contribute and get some nice rewards? Now you have the option to use PayPal! Visit the Dreamfall Chapters page on the Red Thread Games website to look at the different tiers and pay via PayPal. Everything pledge via PayPal will count towards the stretch goals:

PayPal will count towards stretch goals! We will provide regular updates on progress!
Red Thread Games

The PayPal page also includes an embedded YouTube video. It’s an HD version of the Kickstarter video, and it has a spoiler warning at the beginning. What would maybe help is to click here and watch it, like it and maybe favorite it so it’ll get noticed on YouTube. Spread the word, people! :)

The Great Library of Marcuria

The 11th Kickstarter update also contains more details about the Loremaster stretch goal, along with this cute drawing of a certain Bird recklessly disrespecting an ancient tome. Click here or on the Bird to go to the update page and find out more about what happened to the Great Library of Marcuria after the end of The Longest Journey.

Live Dreamfall playthrough on Twitch.tv

And lastly, a new video (also available on YouTube!) was included in the update, in which Ragnar Tørnquist, Martin Bruusgaard and Dag Scheve talk about introducing new players to the universe of The Longest Journey and Dreamfall.

At the end, they announced that they’re going to do a live playthrough of Dreamfall this Friday. I love director’s commentaries on DVD’s, and I suspect this will have some similar qualities, so this is something I’m looking forward to. More details will follow soon!

Let It Snow In Marcuria

December 19, 2012 in Dreamfall, Dreamfall Chapters, Media, Screenshots, The Games, The Longest Journey

Ragnar Tornquist posted a picture of a very early Dreamfall Chapters version of what looks like Marcuria. It looks like winter is still present in the jewel of the Northlands. Let it snow!

Dreamfall Chapters is alive

And then there’s also this:

Dreamfall Chapters

There isn’t all that much to see, but it’s still nice to see that the team is hard at work in their new environment.
Go team! You can do it!

The Longest Journey and Dreamfall playthroughs

In other news, GameSpot US staff members Kevin VanOrd and Tom McShea recently did a live stream on Twitch of themselves playing The Longest Journey. Later, when they started playing Dreamfall, Tom McShea was replaced by Carolyn Petit. Each of the sessions took about 2 hours.
You can watch it right here if you have the time.

Kevin mentioned that The Longest Journey is his favorite game ever created. Tom was still new to it. Maybe that was partly the cause of the (in my opinion) awkward silences and unrelated viewer questions/comments.

After about 30 minutes though, they both warmed up to playing the game together and talking about it. There was even someone commenting who claimed to be Ragnar Tornquist himself. I won’t say if that’s true or not, but I think this tweet says it all.

TLJ and Dreamfall on Steam

November 22, 2012 in Dreamfall, The Games, The Longest Journey

Get ‘em while they’re hot! While I’m writing this, The Longest Journey and Dreamfall are both available with a 60% price cut on Steam. So get over there, add them to your cart and press that buy button!

To The Owners

Already a proud owner of the two games and don’t see the point in buying more copies? Suggest them to a friend, or better yet; buy them as a gift! :)

Thanks to Pirateguybrush for mentioning this on the forums.
